Sometimes I have the privilege of shooting people I know well. This weekend I had a family session with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law and my adorable new niece Violet. We had a simple Mini Session in a local Long Beach park.
I love shooting in this park because of the gorgeous light it gives before sunset, and because it illustrates how little the background matters for great photos. In fact, having a simple background, blown out by shallow depth of field (f/1.2 in many of these photos) allows the focus to be where I want it: on my client. Undistracted by what's behind, I get to let their expressions, interactions, and features take center stage.
Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure meeting the most adorable miss baby Charlotte! She's celebrating her 1-year birthday and her whole family came along to join in the festivities! I photographed her and her family at Santiago Oaks Regional Park in Orange County. It's a been a Gautier family favorite throughout the years, and for good reason. It's gorgeous, and a perfect background for cutie pie and her parents, cousin, and aunties!
Seems like only a short while ago I was capturing this lovely mama's maternity session. Now I got to meet their new little guy, Luke. Just days old this little infant was a pro at letting me capture him. He's beyond adorable and is so loved by his family - parents and their fuzzy buddy Sprocket. Such a joy to know and photograph this growing family!
